The Post Basic Diploma in Forensic Nursing is a 1-year specialized, full-time clinical program designed for registered nurses who want to operate at the unique intersection of healthcare, forensic sciences, and the legal system.

Course Overview

Duration: 1 academic year (12 months), incorporating roughly 500 theory hours and over 1,400 intensive clinical practice hours.
Objective: Train nurses to accurately document physical trauma, preserve biological and physical evidence, provide trauma-informed care to victims of assault or crime, and assist law enforcement and legal teams.
Governing Body: Approved and regulated by the Indian Nursing Council (INC) and recognized by respective State Nursing Registration Councils (SNRC).

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification: Passed General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM), B.Sc. Nursing, or Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from an INC-recognized institution.
Professional Registration: Must hold a valid, active registration as a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife (RN/RM) with any State Nursing Council.

Clinical Postings: Practical training rotations across Casualty and Emergency Departments, Forensic Science Laboratories (FSL), Mortuaries/Autopsy rooms, Police Administration headquarters, Court proceedings, and Correctional/Prison healthcare facilities.
