Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is an internationally reputed central university located in the holy city of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Founded in 1916 by the visionary nationalist leader Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, alongside eminent personalities like Dr. Annie Besant, BHU was established under the Parliamentary legislation BHU Act 1915. It stands as one of the largest residential universities in Asia, housing over 30,000 students from across the globe.

The main campus spans over 1,300 acres with well-planned avenues, grand heritage buildings, advanced research laboratories, and extensive green cover. BHU comprises 6 institutes, 16 faculties, 140+ academic departments, and multi-disciplinary centers offering undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and doctoral programmes in Arts, Science, Commerce, Law, Medicine, Agriculture, Performing Arts, and Visual Arts. Admissions across undergraduate and postgraduate streams are conducted through CUET (UG) and CUET (PG) exams administered by the NTA.
