Overview

The Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a standardized national-level exam conducted since 1988 to help B-Schools across India screen candidates for MBA and allied programs. Approved as a national-level test by the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India, in 2003, MAT has been a trusted admission test for over 35 years. It offers streamlined exam sections and a concise format, making it the preferred choice for lakhs of aspirants annually.

Key Features of MAT

  • Recognized by the Ministry of Education as a national-level test for MBA/PGDM admissions.

  • Scores are widely accepted by over 600 B-Schools across India.

  • Administered four times a year: February, May, August, and December.

  • Available in two modes: PBT (Paper-Based Test) and CBT (Computer-Based Test).

  • Score validity of one year; the best score from multiple attempts is accepted.

  • Trusted by lakhs of candidates from diverse regions in India.

MAT Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for MAT, candidates must have completed a graduation degree or its equivalent from a UGC-recognized university. Graduates from any stream are eligible to apply. Additionally, final-year students awaiting their results can also appear for the exam.

MAT Exam Pattern

MAT has five sections, each with thirty questions. A total of 150 questions are to be attempted over 120 minutes.

Important Points:

  • Candidate can take MAT as

    • Paper Based Test (PBT) or

    • Computer Based Test (CBT) or

    • Paper Based Test and Computer Based Test (PBT+CBT)

  • Fee for Paper Based Test (PBT) or Computer Based Test (CBT) is ₹2100/-.

  • Candidates can opt for an additional mode of test ( PBT+CBT ) by paying an extra fee of ₹1500/- in addition to ₹2100/-.

  • Candidates opting for additional test will have the benefit of selecting additional 2 Management Institutes for sending their scores in addition to existing option of selecting 5 Management Institutes i.e. they can select 7 Management Institutes in total.
